As part of my new series, Sorcerer's Sound, I will be interviewing various Genius members. For the first episode, I will interview Gamemast15r, who you may know from the Genius rap cyphers.
Almighty U-Sorcerer: What's good, G15?
Gamemast15r: Nothing much dude, just playing GTA V, being a virgin retard pretty much lol. Wbu?
Almighty U-Sorcerer: I’m just chilling. Anyways, let’s get into this interview. Who or what inspired you to write lyrics?
Gamemast15r: Honestly, I have a bunch of favorite rappers but that’s not really the main inspiration. Main inspiration would be boredom, The Deevil’s Advocate’s album (where tf he go to btw? He just dropped off the face of the planet lol), emotional insecurity, and the inability to be a rapper cause everyone and their grandma makes sh*t and wants to be the next big thing. Which is ok but thinking bout the people that don’t is offputting nahmean?
Almighty U-Sorcerer: I feel you. Do you remember your first verse on Genius?
Gamemast15r: I’m pretty sure it was a Deevil’s Advocate song called Aggrandizement or something like that.
Almighty: I remember that track!
"I was born the abortion of one thousand psychopaths
f*ck God, I don’t believe in the righteous path"
I think that’s the words, I don’t remember 100%. But anyways, how did you end up on the track?
G15: Yeah that’s pretty much it lol, and I ended up on the track after I told Deevil I wanted to write a verse or something. Not gonna lie, like any verse or album I do I get a tad nervous but once it’s done I feel good/
Almighty: Did the “Aggrandizement” verse give you the momentum to make The Rise and Fall of Kane?
G15: Yeah you could say that. Funny thing is I thought of that for a long time before I did anything with it. Dead Presidents IV I’d say would be the first track I wrote in my head. In fact Kane came from one of the lines in it. And I was so obsessed with mafioso rap at that point that I decided a double disc would be dope. It’s now the Detox of written albums.
Almighty: The Rise and Fall of Kane has a great storyline. What inspired it?
G15: I’d just say various mafia movies like Scarface, The Godfather definitely, Lord of War, Carlito’s Way, the sopranos etc. so much good mafia sh*t dude. Also the second half has some devil sh*t and I just wanted to do two seperate storylines: poor and desperate, rich and powerful. Also you got OB4CL 1 & 2, Reasonable Doubt, It Was Written, Scarface the rapper, and some other albums here and there. Also video games.
Almighty: Video games? What kind of video games?
G15: One was inspired by Mafia 3, although the game was good it was disappointing in some areas, The Darkness series, GTA, Scarface: The World is Yours, and some others which I can’t really remember rn tbh. Also Max Payne is tight af
Almighty: I knew GTA was going to be on that list lmao. Video games must have a big influence on your life. After all, your name is GAMEmast15r. Where did the master and the 15 come from in your name?
G15: Yeah dude since I was a young kid man. And honestly, it was my gamer tag. When I was younger right I wanted to be like one of those annoying little call of duty kids who wanted to quickscope and I didn’t get online until later so once I got online it made me change it and I came up with this. Thank f*cking god, n00b_destroyer is f*cking stupid.
Almighty: What is your goal in life?
G15: Honestly? Idk, make some good sh*t I guess? I’d say something stereotypical like get a wife and kids but the last thing this cancerous world needs is for me to spread my seed. So I’d have to say maybe write for a video game, ghostwrite, just something creative, no need to be credited as long as I can support myself I’m good.
Almighty: Words of wisdom. Thank you for letting me interview you.
Check out me and Gamemast15r's upcoming project, Scorpion Squad.
