UK Phi Delt Officially Kicked Off Campus Until 2016 lyrics

Yesterday, we reported on the rumors spreading around the University of Kentucky’s campus as to the fate of the school’s Phi Delta Theta chapter. As we suspected, the fraternity is in a load of trouble.

According to a letter written today by Reid Stephenson, the university’s IFC Judicial Board chairman, the chapter will be removed from campus until Fall 2016. Stephenson explains a complainant reported seeing what appeared to be a crushed pill in his or her drink. Three others also reported they felt effects other than intoxication after drinking drinks handed out by fraternity members at the party in question.

The fraternity is also accused of serving alcohol to minors at a party attended by 20 to 30 members of the chapter.

Stephenson had this to say about the sanctions:

“We do appreciate that Phi Delta Theta fraternity has recognized there were problems within the fraternity and with the members, but we do not see that will fix culture within the organization. We wish there were proactive steps in pace/that took place that night, instead of being responsive after the events that took place.”

The fraternity was officially charged with three violations of UK’s Student Code of Conduct.

• Use, possession or distribution of narcotic or dangerous drugs
• The commission of acts or the implementation of programs or activities that constitute a violation of local, state or federal law
• Violation of the university alcohol policy

The Phi Delt president strongly denied the allegations:

“The serious allegations against us remain untrue and are based on nothing but hearsay and gossip,” he said. “We look forward to a continuing, fair appeals process.”

The fraternity members must move out of their on-campus house by March 26; however, they have until Wednesday to appeal the board’s decision.
