Black people pride, that is how I would describe it. The Great Migration of 1910-1970 of six million black people instilled a sense of "status" that is prevalent today, if I may say? Black aesthetics lead to modern rap music with consciousness. Cultural geo-tagging puts New York City (particularly Harlem) at center of modern black urban culture. "Empire State of Mind" may be unifying term/phrase where families of former slaves (in the past) rise above the situation today
