Sixth grade D.2 Match causes with their effects
Read the text.
El Niño is a climate cycle that occurs in the Pacific Ocean and affects weather patterns around the globe. Under normal conditions, powerful winds at the equator blow across the Pacific from east to west. These winds push warm surface water near the South American coast to the west, toward Indonesia, causing colder water from the depths to rise to the surface. In El Niño conditions, however, the winds are weak and sometimes even blow in the opposite direction, toward South America. This has the effect of making warm water build up along the coast of South America. Clouds form above this acc*mulation of warm water at the surface, leading to rainy conditions in some regions.
