User Interview: Motisba lyrics

nycrite: Let's dive right in! What is your favorite genre to contribute on Genius and why? Do you have a special connection to this genre?

Motisba: I've been doing a lot of Songs and helping on a few metadatas for J-Pop, before getting into that I was only doing a few ones here and there to my favourite artists until I first listened to "9Lana", at the time she was THE artist I was listening to and after I saw nothing was done on her profile except her (outdated) Avatar and 1 song, I took it upon myself to do it and aftеr learning most of the tricks and tips on how to scribe songs I also did somе for KANKAN (缶缶)

nycrite: Nice! It's always fun to learn about new genres and artists, and to tidy their pages up is a real personal accomplishment. Is there any goals you have role-wise for Genius, and if so, why?

Motisba: I honestly just would be fine with becoming an Official Transcriber for Genius Japan, I genuinely love J-Pop and it recently has become my favourite music genre, other than that I would just keep sticking to tidying things up and scribing new songs that come out or songs that haven't been scribed yet whenever I discover them!

nycrite: That's great to hear! What is your proudest accomplishment on Genius so far? Do you plan to make a larger impact?

Motisba: Proudest accomplishment really is just all the things I did for 9Lana, I have scribed 26 (42 with Romanizations) songs by her and re-did her whole page (including Bio), which is still what I'm the proudest of.
I don't necessarily plan on making a huge impact, no, especially since I mostly listen to less-popular artists (less than 1 mil listeners a month on Spotify). I would also like to add that I'm going to be doing most of 9Lana's Youtube releases' lyrics as well!

nycrite: It's always understandable that not everyone wants to make a great impact on Genius... and that's okay! What do you think could be enhanced on-site to improve the experience for your fellow contributors?

Motisba: I really only have 2 words.. Dark. Mode. If I ever forget my google add-on I get my eyeballs completely singed by the brightness.

nycrite: I would love a dark mode as well. I think that's a great addition to add to the site. How do you like our community? Do you, and you can speak for any new contributors as well on this topic, think that our community is welcoming for anybody who loves lyrics and contributing to them?

Motisba: Oh yeah, I think that it's very welcoming, I personally enjoyed my first day into the Discord, though it can be a bit confusing for newcomers that want to scribe lyrics, at least rule-wise, since there's a lot of things you need to learn to be able to make a good scribing which can deter some people from trying. But as for the other half of the question, I personally do think that it is, though it can feel dividing at times especially if people aren't into the same music genres as the other members.
