User Interview: Justin Lovo lyrics
by Genius Users
grafiXal: Hey, how are you? Looking forward to this interview!! Before starting, how are you feeling right now? :ā«
Justin Lovo: I'm feeling pretty good right now! I've had quite the boring day so far, I can't lie, but I have the week off which excites me.
grafiXal: Ah, I see! Yeah, my day wasn't much either, haha! Great to hear you're feeling good! :ā« Now, let's get on to this interview, shall we?
So, do you think you could tell us more about yourself? How would you describe yourself to someone who might not know who you are?
Justin Lovo: Yeah! I'm Justin and I absolutely LOVE music. Some people may look at it as a problŠµm for me because thŠµy rarely see me without headphones. š I sometimes make my own music in my free time.
Some personal traits/characteristics about me are that I'm a talkative person with friends, especially when it is one of my interests. If someone mentions anything I'm interested about, I won't stop talking about it for hours maybe. š That's what got me to sign up for an interview. I'd like to get asked questions about things and give answers!
Obviously, there is more I can get into about myself but I just want to give out what I think will be most important for this.
grafiXal: That's great! It's really cool that you make music and I feel like I can relate to you when it comes to talking about something you're interested in. Re your music, do you think you could tell us how you got into becoming an artist?
Justin Lovo: Of course! I used to listen to a lot of Hyperpop when I first started listening to music. I loved the stutters and glitches in the music. I also listened to a lot of 'Sigilkore'. The name doesn't sound that nice but I messed with the music. š I listened to this type of music from around 2021-2023.
What really inspired me from these genres is the age of some of the artists I was listening to. It could range from 12-17 and they had thousands of monthly listeners. I had no knowledge on making music and never thought about making music. I started making music but did not take it serious in 2022. I recorded a couple of songs on BandLab and of course, they were horrible. š I quit for a year because it just seemed like a waste of time to me. It wasn't great and I wasn't getting plays so I just left it.
A year later, I find this new community of music. It doesn't have a certain name to my knowledge. Only way I can describe it is that it is bitcrushed. The audio is somewhat distorted on these songs. It is mostly compared to sigilkore by others. My friend had connections to some of the artists that make this type of music and suggested that we started making it. I said sure and surprisingly enough, my first song in that sound wasn't so bad. I started making that type of music in May, if I remember correctly.
I've been trying to move away from that sound recently. I continue making music because it really is fun to rap and sing on beats. Plus, if i get bored of listening to other music, I can just make it myself. Sometimes, I can even get some things off of my mind and put them onto a verse when I'm feeling down. It really helps me and I find it quite entertaining.
Sorry, if this is way too much..š¤§
grafiXal: This is really interesting and cool! š„ It's really fun to make the songs you want to exist yourself! (Also, I've never used BandLab but ATP I think I'ma try it hehe)
So, let's switch to a more Genius question (pun-intended š), how did you discover Genius? What made you join this site?
Justin Lovo: Ayy! I could teach you BandLab, if you need the help. š
I discovered Genius by trying to find lyrics to a song. I remember the exact song too. It was 'SLIME HISSIN' by starsaga. The lyric page was not a thing but it led me to the starsage Genius page. I decided to write the lyrics myself about an hour before school and I made my first Genius account + transcription.
grafiXal: Appreciate that! Oh, and how you discovered Genius is nice!! The fact that you even remember it exactly is cool, I need a strong memory like that!
Moving on, have you had good experiences with our community? Has it been great? I hope it has, but I still want to ask!
Justin Lovo: Yeah, it's been good! Mostly everyone in the community seems nice and respectful. I've only had maybe one bad encounter but it wasn't that big of a deal.
grafiXal: Ah, okay! Sorry to hear about the bad encounter, but I'm happy you've had great experiences with the community! :ā«
So, returning a bit to music, do you have any favourite artists, songs, albums or so? If yes, do you think you could share it with us? š
Justin Lovo: I have so many answers for each but I am only gonna give a few.
My current favorite artists are Izaya Tiji, LUCKI, OsamaSon, and Sickboyrari. I don't have a very diverse music taste at the moment, but I'm trying to change that.. š
My current favorite albums are Flex Musix by OsamaSon, Vespertine by Bjƶrk, heartpacing by jaydes, and Body High by LUCKI.
My current favorite songs are "Six Forty" by LUCKI, "Talking 2 A Ghost" by OsamaSon, "WASTE TIME" by Hypnosis & Lavi, "Walk Alone" by The Sea The Sea, "Beam Me Up" by Thouxanbanfauni, and "our lil moment" + "Swae" both by Izaya Tiji.
grafiXal: Damn, that's a long list, I can only imagine the full one. š³ Cool to know who your favorite artists are (as well as your favorite songs and albums)!
Is there any hobby, passion, etc. you have that you would like to share? :ā«
Justin Lovo: Apart from music, there's not much, to be honest. I like to go to empty fields and play football (ā½ļø) with my dad when we're free, I used to really like drawing but I've slowed down on it recently. I like to skate outside my house, and if I'm not working, I get on my computer to play with my friends or cousin.
Obviously, I'm passionate about music but I've also tried to make a clothing brand. I've worked on creating my own brand about 2-3 years ago and quit after a while because I didn't know what I was doing. Recently, I've gotten back into creating more designs and studying more about the process. I'd love to see someone wear one of my pieces one day!
grafiXal: Ooh, that's interesting and cool! Playing games on our computers is so goated; don't get me wrong, playing on PS5 is goated too, but the computers (at least portable ones) kind of got that "play anywhere" vibes.
Didn't know you started a clothing brand, that's cool! Sorry to hear it didn't go well though. :/ I'd be interested in checking out your designs tho!!
To top off this interview, I want to ask this: Do you have any future plans for Genius or your musical career?
Justin Lovo: For Genius, I don't really have plans. I am probably still gonna be active on it for another year or two but there will definitely be a time where I won't have as much time to transcribe as I do now.
For my musical career, I hope to still do this in the future. I need to find the right sound for me. I haven't uploaded a song in almost 2 months because everything I make now doesn't sound great. I need to buy a better microphone and improve on singing and rapping. I know all about promotion, connections, and algorithm so getting myself out there won't be a problem. I just need to improve on my sound and hopefully make something out of it once I find it.
grafiXal: I see. I wish you good luck on your career! Perhaps, in the future, you'll be able to afford a better mic and any other needed tools! :ā«
Well, I think this concludes our interview. Thank you for finding the time to join for this and answer my questions! I appreciate it! <3
Justin Lovo: Of course! Thank you for interviewing me! š Have a good day.
grafiXal: Thank you! Have a good day too! :ā«
