God whispered to me within my sleep and it awoke something Inside lyrics

Meave Devereux

God visited me within a dream,
kissed my cheek, touched me gently, bestowed a gift that couldn’t even be purchased with old money;
placed me in the body of who i was meant to be,
made me walk on my bare feet in a city street,
as i walked i felt free and bestowed with glee
blood no longer flooded through my veins--t was exuberance.
i felt like i finally deserved to breathe

I drank from the Gods goblet
and let thе richness pour down my throat.
A thick honey; a golden еlixir,
I may not be rich, but in that moment no one was richer.

God whispered to me,
gifted me so much within my sleep
My body was never more awake
I was aware and conscious
a gift so spontaneous
but still, i decided to dream with the headrest under my feet.

Common dreams of being able to fly or never die
never fascinated me
my dream was always to be a human;
to feel alive.
God looked me in my eyes
—in the eyes of my storm—
passed into my iris,
walked through my mind,
and gold is what he’d find.

The earth hit my face,
the smell awoke the child within me,
the girl locked away for so long,
she breathed for the first time in months,
a collapse took place in my lungs—a good one.
I coughed out old blood
and buried moments from young
—it burnt my tongue,
it stung.

I was sick, but now i’m no longer livid, I am finally sacred.
