Music in Taiwan can be categorized into three. Apart from the more famous Taiwanese pop culture, Indie rock, as well as mandopop, have played an integral role in shaping the entire Taiwanese music culture.
Even so, Taiwan knows very little about electronic jazz. This is besides a new generation of Taiwanese children becoming so intrigued with violins, piano, and guitars, but has yet to produce a pro in the niche. Due to this, the vast majority of the students have sought to shift bases from Taiwan to most European countries and America.
While the music scene in Taiwan is quickly growing, there are some sectors of the industry that have seen slow growth. One of the most affected areas is the muscle venues.
This does not mean that there aren't any venues in Taiwan that can play host to music events. However, the culture of holding subsequent music concerts around the country has taken root as compared to many other well-established counties.
However, the huge Mandopop music has seen its stars make numerous appearances in the major arenas around Taipei, Kaohsiung, and Taichung. While the big arenas usually host these big music events, they always spread the music version to local events along the way.
When it comes to indie rock bands, the stars usually hit the smaller clubs and coffee shops to entertain their much eager fans. However, this is not always the case. These musicians always have limited avenues that can accommodate them.
Unlike music venues that are quite difficult to find, music festivals are quite common in Taiwan. The vast majority of these festivals are well maintained and always have a huge attendance.
Of all these festivals, the spring scream has been the most popular for quite some time now. Being held in April, this beach festival being held in Kenting showcases a vast array of local talent, majorly focusing on independent rock bands.
Even so, the festival also includes a number of foreign musicians and bands. The best thing is that the festival I quite cheap, compared to other festivals around the world. It's definitely a festival to attend, whenever you are in Taiwan in April.
Perhaps the best way to get a taste of the Taiwanese music industry is to attend any KTV (Karaoke) event. Just like many other countries, attending a karaoke event in Taiwan gives you a first-hand experience of how the music industry in Taiwan is.
The best thing about attending such events is that it is not only knowledgeable but fun as well. You get to explore the culture of the Taiwanese people and get to meet new people as well.
It goes without saying that Taiwanese music has utterly deep roots. As much as modern Chinese technology has played an integral role in Taiwan's music scene, Taiwan's music industry has played an important role in shaping Chinese music culture over the years.
