The story of Harriet Tubman is an emotional moment in history. Harriet was an abolitionist who help escape over 164 slaves from their slave owners during slavery. Harriet was part of a movement that would change history’s view on slavery. Harriet Tubman was a former slave who escaped from her slave owner and later help other slaves to find freedom. Harriet Tubman was the daughter of a free slave. Her mother and siblings and her were not granted freedom. She suffered unbearable pain of having her skull cracked and seeing her sister sold to another plantation. She was denied freedom to marry by her slave owner. After her slave owner died his mean son wanted to sell her so she ran away to Philadelphia to seek freedom. Later she joined the abolitionist movement to return tofree more slaves and to free her family. At the time the abolitionist were declaring a partied on slavery to end slavery. The slaves record of being beaten and mistreated by their slave owners was the reason the abolitionist wanted to end slavery. The abolitionist knew that by freeing the slaves off the plantations would hurt the slave owners economy. The slave owners were angry they lost their poverty. As a result a proclamation was made that any escaped slave who fled to Philadelphia would be returned. The abolitionist moved their campaign from Philadelphia to Canada. Harriet Tubman was wanted by many slave owners. Harriet helped more slaves escape to Canada than any other abolitionist in their movement. The movement led to the Civil War. Harriet Tubman led the union army in the war. Harriet Tubman earned the name Moses, the name given by a man who freed the Jews from slavery in the Bible. Harriet Tubman is remembered as a moderator of a movement that changed history.
