I have designed this guide to assist my graduate students in the many aspects involved in defending a thesis or dissertation. It is my intention to share some of the many ideas that have come up over the last few years, which definitely makes it easier to graduate. (This guide is a complement to the guide for writing an education-themed dissertation).
A guide of this nature is generally focused on the implementation of research. This is not the purpose of this guide. Instead of examining aspects such as appropriate samples and testing of appropriate statistical methods, this guide looks at many of the quasi-political aspects of the process. It includes issues such as selecting a support committee, how to make a complete presentation of your research findings, and the strategy for the research to be written and discussed.
Of course many of the ideas presented can be used successfully by other graduate students who study under the guidance of other counselors and diverse disciplines. However, the use of this guide does not imply full guarantee. If in doubt you should consult your counselor. Probably the best advice to start is the idea of not trying to do your research entirely by yourself. Do it together with your counselor. Look for your contributions and your help. Contact your counselor so that you both know what is happening. This way you have a much better chance of reaching the end of your project with a smile.

THE STAGE OF THOUGHT FOR WRITING YOUR EDUCATION-THEMED DISSERTATION
The stage of "thinking" is when you finally face the reality of culminating your degree. Usually the early stages of a graduation program happen clearly and structurally, they usually happen in the same way as a non-graduate program. There are clear requirements and expectations, and the graduate student advances, step by step, getting closer and closer to finalizing the program. One day, however, the clear structure begins to diminish and now you are approaching the stage of your education-themed dissertation. This is a new and different stage, much more defined by you than by your counselor, program, or department.
1. Be inclusive with your thinking, do not try to eliminate ideas, build on the basis of your ideas, and see the various research projects that can be identified. Develop as much as possible your idea at this stage, because you can not do it later. Try to be creative. The education world is wide and every possibility can happen.
2. Write down your ideas. This will allow you to consult an idea outlined above. Or, you can modify or change an idea. If you do not write your ideas, they will have a continuous trend of change and you will have the feeling that you are not going anywhere.
3. Try not to be over-influenced at this time, so others expect you (your colleagues, your profession, your academic department, etc.). This will be one of the few opportunities you can have in your professional life to focus on an investigation in which you can select the topic.
